Valkyrie body finished!

This turned out really well thanks to 2 cans of Krylon Camouflauge Fusion paint and some adhesive putty. My concern was that my lines would not be crisp, but it only happened just a bit, but its not noticable unless you stare at these pics honestly. I may or may not touch it up before I start detailing the valk and mucking it up.

Chimera basically done

Other than some touch-up's I need to do, as well as possibly decals/markings, the chimera is done.

It's good to have a renewed interest in painting..

The whole Imperial Guard army painting suicide I am sending myself toward has renewed my interest in painting. I am tapping a different aspect of painting... instead of worrying about every out of place dot of paint, I am going for sheer speed. The challenge of painting up a good 160-170 guardmen as well as tons of armor (as I can afford it) seems very overwhelming, but I really look forward to getting my teeth into this project.

Not to mention it reminds me of playing with the green plastic army men of my youth as well as the posable GI Joe's...

Another quick test paint

This soldier has a lighter shade of khaki for his cloth. This was about a 15 minute paint job so I'm not trying to win any awards here =p. I think this color lends itself to being washed with brown much better. I will probably try a drybrush test paint of a model as well trying to find the right time spent vs quality of the model on the table ratio i am happy with. The main reason for all of the short-cutting I am doing is because I have about 160 more of these guys to paint up and I hate playing with grey models so...

Yay or Nay?

Did a quick mock up. Let me know what you think of the colors, but remember its a horde army so I'm not going crazy on detail and it has to be quick and dirty. The second pic shows off the color of the cloth a bit better. I still think I may go a shade lighter though as I plan on washing everything with Devlan Mud (brown).

Getting back into 40K

I am not really sure why I wanted to get back into warhammer 40k, but somehow I am back. This time around I will be ditching the MEQ armies and opt for the Imperial Guard. I really like what I have seen and I just really wanted to paint a valkyrie!

I did hit one speedbump along the way in that the valkyrie I ordered came missing some small part that wasn't very huge in the assembly of the plane. I called GW on principle and the said they would ship me a new kit out. I wasn't going to argue with them...but I will argue with anyone who says they don't have good customer service!

Here are some pics of Valkyrie #1. The kit is pretty insanely detailed. I was surprised to see that the heavy bolter sponsons could swing out and the side doors slide open. Its nice that I can model the heavy bolters if I opt to use them, but if not I can retract the guns and close the door.
