New Possible IG Scheme

So I tested this new scheme out on a valkyrie I had laying around just base-coated. If nothing else I think I may do all of my air support in this fashion since frankly, I think it fits the Imperial Navy theme. I am debating on doing my whole army in this scheme as some sort of urban PDF or similar as well.

Here come the pics!

Couple of IG conversions

Just wanted to throw up my new carapace-armored vets with shotguns and a basilisk I turned into a medusa siege mortar using a highlighter...

Back to toying with plastic men

So I took a long break over the holidays, and am finally getting back into doing some painting and such. My wife and her mother helped my IG army grow and I have started toying with the idea of a Tyranid army. The cute little buggers will take awhile so I am looking into dipping them to get them on the table top quick and to a decent standard.

Below is my first attempt on one of the Space Hulk genestealers. I thought it would be a softer tone than it was, but I sorta like the look. Originally I was going for a Hive Fleet Leviathan look, but I may as well just make it my own and roll with it. I will of course knock the gloss off of the finish with a matte varnish after the little guy has sat for a good 48 hrs.

Space Hulk

So I finally broke down and ordered it! Now I just have to hope that my wife will get into playing it as I have no idea how hard it will be to play without experience with miniature wargaming. Here's to hoping I can get her interested!

IG Progress

OK, so I finally got most of my Imperial Guard infantry primed and ready to begin painting. I started with a new test paint for my basic infantry and LOVE IT. I didn't do any highlighting on the model yet, and I'm not sure how much I will do since its basic infantry, but I think I finally got the color combinations the way I want them.

I also managed to do get my company commander worked on. I am still not sure if I want to paint the flock and rocks and drybrush them or leave them as they are. I will probably add a bit of static grass to the base before I prime the model too.

EDIT: Added a pic of the finished basing. I think I like this look. I am kind of tired of snow as well as earthy looking bases.
